K2 is a restaurant that tries to be one of the best within local and sustainable focused dining in Stavanger.

We pride ourselves on being an honest and transparent workplace focused on both sustainable cooking, drinks and work environment at a high level.

Our focus lies in buying and serving local, organic and low intervention produce and drinks. 

  • Fish is local from the waters around Rogaland.

  • Meat comes from farms that we know personally and have visited.

  • All produce originating from Rogaland is welcomed on the menu.

  • If we buy something Norwegian, it must be that the product in question if especially good from the source. Example: Scallops from the Hitra or Berries form Sogn.

  • If the product needs to be imported from outside Norway it must be organic. 

Wanting to show our guests food that might be a little different than what they are used to. Showcasing older techniques, and beautiful ingredients with as little waste as possible.

From March to November a big part of our work goes into preserving produce for use in the winter. Fish and meats are delivered whole and butchered in house, with every part utilized. We believe we can serve sustainable protein if we always are strict with who we buy from, and cooperate with. We are as of 2022 50% organically certified by Debio, with a goal of 90% soon.

We have an extensive cocktail program that focuses on produce in season and preserved ingredients in winter.

Other staff benefits

  • Hot staff food every day at 3.30pm

  • 4 day work week

  • Tip split between full time staff monthly. Owners do not get tips (head chef and restaurant manager)

  • 7 weeks paid vacation for full time employees. We close when we have vacation.

  • Paid stage for all appprentices (previously Gastrologik Sweden, Kvitnes gård Norway)

  • Other things we have done for staff: Paid for WSET, paid for two week stage in Paris with pay, brought every team member to Restaurant Under, paid for stage at Silo, brought sous chef to Montreal Canada.

  • Staff party twice a year paid for by restaurant
